The Omni – Toledo, OH

THE OWNERS A FUCKING ASSHOLE, DON’T GO THERE AND SUPPORT THAT MOTHERFUCKER!!!
So I went to see a show there a week ago. I went to seen the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (tickets for the woman, don’t hate). It was a decent show, but this is about the venue. The Omni, formerly Gatorz, formerly a bowling alley is incredibly similar to the previous layout. The bar is still in the center of the floor, but much of the rear is walled off and is now a new “chill-area”.
Anyways, the problem is the owner. The owner is a fucking young (late-20’s, early 30’s) douchebag. So the show starts, and I’m chilling behind the bar enjoy a Gin and Tonic. I like this particular vantage point and I’ve seen a few shows from this spot. There’s no one in front of me, except for a bartender getting me another drink. It’s perfect.
So the headliner comes on, and the owner gets on the bar and stands there…and stands there…and stands there.

Then, he asks a “bouncer” to get up with him. He’s right fucking in front of us. I ask a bartender why the fuck he’s up there. She says that he’s “looking for someone.” WTF mate? Why isn’t he standing at the front on the corner of the stage or something? So, we ask the bartender to deliver a message to him. We didn’t even ask him to get down, all we said was:
Instead of standing in one spot, can you at least move around a little?
The bartender comes back and he says:
Uh…you don’t want me to repeat what he said…
So the fucking dickhead stands there for the rest of the show. I mean, if I owned a business, I would treat my customers decently. He’s lost my fucking business. Hopefully you will take heed and let this fuckface go under.

its probably that same douchebag that owned gatorz…..you know the dude who had 20 skank 18year olds all over his junk at the VIP line, while he commenced to ignore the 200 people in line at the other door?
well, you know your life is complete when you have highschoolers thinking your the greatest thing since white bread.

What a douchebag. Their website claims that they are all about customer service. I won’t be spending any of my money at this place.

The Omni does not have the same owner as Gatorz. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The beer is cheap and the variety is great. The owner is one of the most caring people I’ve met.
Imagine if you owned a place like that and you had approximately 1000 people packed in there to see a band. Now, imagine that it’s dark and someone has started a fight in the middle of all of your patrons. How the hell would YOU find the right person to throw out? Have you ever tried to push through 1000 people on a rush basis? It doesn’t happen. I’m sure he knew that he would be blocking someone’s view but ultimately your view was less important then 999 other people’s safety.

There are plenty of places to observe the crowd. The fact of the matter is that he wanted the best place to watch the show. IF he wanted to keep an eye for the people, maybe he would have been just offstage, left or right, looking back. That gives him not only the opportunity to see fights, but the lights projected from the stage will actually let him see.
The only thing he could see from where he was at was the band. I will agree: the rest of the staff was cool, but I will absolutely not support that asshat or any establishment of his. It was quite clear that night what his priorities were.

Add me to the list of people who won’t go there. The crowd monitoring defense is pretty weak. Build a platform off to the side if you need to get a better view from above.

You’ve made a good decision. The only way to deal with people sometimes is to stop giving them your money.
If we could only do the same with the government…..

WOW! Just found out that my favorite guitarist, KWS, is going to be there next month. (I thought he was playing at the Omni Hotel) Googled Omni and found this. Don’t think we’ll be driving 4 hrs just to deal with this drama.

I’m a HUGE fan of Kenny Wayne myself. I didn’t get a chance to see him when we came through town last playing with some of the greats….
Having said that…I don’t think I can stoop that low to go back there. I’m incredibly torn about whether or not to betray myself for a chance to see one of the greatest blues-rock guitarists of all time.
Decisions……..

WHATS THE CHANCES IT WOULD HAPPEN TWICE? EVERYBODY HAS MADE BAD DECISIONS BEFORE. I WOULD GIVE THE DOUCHBAG ANOTHER CHANCE. I JUST SAW TESLA THERE AND WILL BE SEEING KWS THERE TOO. DONT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY, LIFE IS TO SHORT AS IT IS.
